Showreel
and Design Process Case Study Resources
Katharine
Willis developed a showreel for the project which gives examples
of some of her studio's proposals and completed projects. This is
a valuable resource which could be used to demonstrate to students
the work of an artist working in a commercial or public art context.
Katherine's work is an example of a design company making art in
a real business context. In many ways the work of her studio represents
the future, a combination of the roles of artist, designer, architect
and urban planner making public art for play and contemplation.
Often
working in competitive situations, projects need to be creatively
conceived, developed, costed and then presented to clients. ICT
is not only important in the control of the work itself but often
in the form of simulations - computer animations - which are used
to pitch the ideas to clients and win the commission.

She
also developed a design process case study presentation showing
elements of the design process of the Pixel Wall that Jason Bruges
Studio designed for the T-Mobile Headquarters. This shows a 3D virtual
model of the installation, a sketch animation used to present the
design to the client, scale drawings used in the manufacture of
the component, CAD models of the components and multiple components
and finally, a 3D animated model.
