Part of the Whitechapel Download Project

Introduction

The Project Adapt is the fourth and final project in the Download series which took place in the Tower Hamlets City Learning Centre (CLC) attached to Swanlea (http://www1.swanlea.
towerhamlets.sch.uk/index.html)
secondary school in November/December 2003.

Artist Katharine Willis worked with a Year 10 class and their teacher, Brad Wilson, from the Information Technology Department at the school. The project was a complex one which featured the creative use of computer aided design (CAD) and computer aided manufacturing (CAM) technology, following an inspirational visit to the Franz West exhibition.

This web resource documents the project as it unfolded in the story of the project, however, it also explores a variety of different starting points and possible lines of development across the school subjects of 'Art, Design and Technology' and 'Information and Communications Technology.'

The project was managed by Annabel Johnson and Helen Lloyd, Schools Programmers at the Whitechapel, and supported by Steve Herne, writer and Art in Education Lecturer at Goldsmiths College, University of London. This web resource was written by Steve Herne and designed by Carl Stevenson, artist and web designer.
