Part of the Whitechapel Download Project

Curriculum

This project was undertaken with a Year 10 group (16 & 17 year olds) following an Applied Information and Communication Technology (Double Award) GCSE Syllabus with the AQA. (http://www.aqa.org.uk/) Examination Board.

What follows locates the project within the Key Stage 4 school subjects of ICT, D&T and Art & Design, using the AQA GCSE syllabuses for reference. Thinking broadly across the curriculum it is possible to locate the creative development of the ideas in this project in the school subject of Art & Design. The designing and making of the adaptives belongs to both Art & Design and Design & Technology (D&T), although the technology used is more often found in the D&T context. The awareness gained of the information technology systems and their application in a business context belongs primarily to Information and Communication Technology (ICT), although it is also an important aspect of D&T.
