Entrance Fees
You can get into most of our exhibitions for free. During those of our exhibitions for which we do charge an entrance fee, the following groups qualify for a reduced entrance fee:
-Disabled visitors and their companions
-Pensioners
-Registered unemployed people
-Students with valid identification

Parking
You will find the nearest public car park in Spreadeagle Yard (off Whitechapel High Street), about 75 metres from the Gallery. The car park is situated between Commercial Road and Gunthorpe Street, which is next to the White Hart Pub. The car park closes at 7pm in the week, is closed all day on Saturday and closes at 2.30 pm on Sundays.

The Blue Badge Scheme
If you have a blue badge you can park, free of charge, for as long as you like at street parking meters and 'pay and display' spaces. But if a local traffic order is in force giviing a time limit for disabled parking badges you must moe your vehicle before the time limit runs out.
If you have a blue badge you can usually park on single and double yellow lines for up to three hours, unless there is a ban on loading and unloading in force in the area
You must display your blue badge clearly in your vehicle
Buses
The following buses stop near the Gallery: 5, 15, 15a, 25, 40, 67, 78, 205 and 253
Underground
We are above Aldgate East tube station, which is on the District and Hammersmith and City Lines. The tube station has four different exits so it's important that you use the one that brings you out at street level, next to our main entrance. You will find directions to the Whitechapel Art Gallery on the tube station platform.
At present the entrance closest to the Gallery is closed.
If you come by tube from the west, get off at Aldgate East and turn right on the platform. If you come from the east, get off the tube and turn left on the platform. You will see some stairs at the end of the platform. Go up 11 steps to the first landing. Then go up 11 more steps and this brings you the top of the stairs. If you have come from the west turn right and walk about 10 paces to the ticket barrier. Go through the ticket barrier, turn left and walk about 20 paces. You will come to some steps. Go up 5 steps and you will be on level ground. Walk about 11 paces and you will come to another 5 steps. Go up these 5 steps and you will be on a landing. Make a sharp left turn and go up 15 more steps. On the 15th step you are at street level. The gallery is then about 15 paces on your right.
