Daniel Brookman has been involved in art and arts education for twenty years. His own work has moved away from abstract painting towards more narrative work. He has been inspired by his time teaching and living in Colombia and more recently by the urban environment in London.
During the 9 years as a primary teacher Daniel promoted art projects, exhibitions and artists in residence in all four schools he worked in. His exhibitions through the late 1990s took place in diverse venues from gallery cafes in Bristol to the City Library in Bogota.
Over the last decade Daniel has become much more involved in gallery and museum education, creating many art workshops for all ages in several venues including the Science Museum, the Natural History Museum, Tate Britain and The Foundling Museum. He has also worked full time in the Science Museum and Tate Britain and has developed the ability to engage effectively with the public, allowing them to get the most out of an exhibit or exhibition. He is currently an artist/educator at Tate Britain.
Daniel is particularly interested in using objects and environments to inspire creative personal responses from the audience.
